Med-Metrix Expands Revenue Cycle Capabilities With Vitalware Deal

Share

Med-Metrix, LLC is an advanced provider of technology-enabled Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and medical business intelligence solutions. It is backed by private equity firms – Harvest Partners and A&M Capital Partners. Med-Metrix has recently announced its plan to acquire Vitalware from Health Catalyst, Inc.

Through this deal, the two companies intend to leverage operator-led consulting services with cloud-based automation to drive financial performance of healthcare providers to a new level. Med-Metrix is planning to enhance the value of Vitalware’s workflow analytics technology by integrating it with its own platform. This move will help Med-Metrix to bolster its presence in the mid-revenue cycle area. The new combined system is expected to address the main problems in the industry related to charge capture leakage, regulatory compliance friction, and documentation inaccuracy which result in increasing net revenue yield for healthcare organizations.

Upon the formal closing of the acquisition, which remains subject to customary regulatory conditions, Vitalware’s complete workforce and leadership structure are scheduled to transition into Med-Metrix’s operational division.

Bridging the Mid-Revenue Cycle Gap

Mid-revenue cycle integrity, the complex period between patient care delivery and final bill generation, is vital for the financial sustainability of hospitals. It’s during this phase that things can go wrong, leading to under-billing, claim rejections, and compliance risks. For example, using a chargemaster log that hasn’t been updated for a while or medical codes that don’t perfectly match is a couple of the most common ones.

Directly tackling these issues are Vitalware‘s cloud-native technologies. They deliver a complete range of oversight end-to-end across a number of important administrative areas:

  • Advanced Chargemaster Management system – This software is built around a platform that has been awarded Best in KLAS five times. It enables healthcare networks to keep their pricing structures accurate and current across various clinical service lines.
  • Dynamic Revenue Integrity Tracking capabilities of the system, by comparing clinical documentation with the terms of active payer contracts, detect concealed leakages and ensure correct reimbursement.
  • Automated Price Transparency Compliance – The embedded reporting dashboards enable hospitals to keep up with the changes in the pricing transparency regulations at the federal and state levels thereby minimizing the risk of regulatory penalties.
  • Coding Optimization Workflows – The tool enables health care providers to simplify complicated medical coding processes making the entire journey from clinical documentation to claim submission seamless and consistent.

“I am very excited to welcome Vitalware to Med-Metrix and build on their strong foundation in revenue integrity,” said Joseph Davi, Founder and CEO of Med-Metrix. “This acquisition expands our ability to deliver measurable financial outcomes by combining differentiated technology with deep operational expertise across the mid-revenue cycle.”

“Vitalware represents a natural extension of our platform,” said Rob Wright, Co-President of Med-Metrix. “By integrating their impressive software capabilities, we are better positioned to help providers improve reimbursement accuracy, manage compliance risk, and capture the full value of care delivered.”

The divestiture aligns with a broader corporate focus for the seller, creating a clear growth pathway for both organizations.

“This strategic move opens our next phase, and we have found a tremendous partner in Med-Metrix to take Vitalware forward,” said Ben Albert, CEO of Health Catalyst.

Strategic Growth and Market Position

The acquisition represents a milestone in Med-Metrix’s ongoing expansion strategy, which balances organic engineering initiatives with targeted mergers to build a more comprehensive RCM ecosystem.

“We are pleased to support Med-Metrix in this strategic acquisition,” said Lucas Rogers, Partner at Harvest Partners. “Vitalware will enhance the Company’s mid-revenue cycle capabilities, positioning Med-Metrix to continue executing on its growth strategy through a combination of organic initiatives and targeted acquisitions.”

By centralizing mid-revenue cycle software alongside end-to-end RCM services, the consolidated platform allows hospital administrators to reduce reliance on fragmented point solutions, accelerate reimbursement cycles, and minimize overall administrative overhead.
