Atruvia AG and IBM have entered a long-term strategic agreement to modernize and future-proof the IT backbone of the German Cooperative Financial Group, with Atruvia adopting the IBM z17 platform to support mission-critical operations, including its core banking system. The collaboration centers on strengthening Atruvia’s operational autonomy across data security, infrastructure control, cloud flexibility, vendor independence, and early access to innovation. The partnership integrates IBM’s full software and infrastructure portfolio—including HashiCorp Vault, Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Turbonomic, Apptio, and quantum-safe encryption—to enhance automation, data management, and hybrid cloud interoperability.

Sustainability is also a key pillar, with IBM Z engineered to reduce power consumption and IBM Turbonomic already enabling Atruvia to eliminate 1,000 physical servers, lowering energy use by 20%. The multi-year agreement provides long-term planning stability and deep collaboration through IBM’s newly expanded technology campus in Ehningen. “The collaboration with IBM enables us to be future-proof in all dimensions of sovereignty: from data and infrastructure to cloud, manufacturer, and innovation sovereignty,” said Daniela Bücker, member of the Atruvia Executive Board. IBM’s Wolfgang Wendt added, “Through this technology partnership, we aim to work with Atruvia to significantly advance operational autonomy and sustainability by leveraging our comprehensive hardware and software portfolio.”
