Rocket Software has a definitive agreement to buy the Vertica analytics database platform from OpenText. This move expands its modernization portfolio into high-performance analytics, data, and AI. Vertica is a powerful analytics database for critical tasks. It blends cloud innovation with regulatory compliance, data sovereignty, performance, and cost. By integrating Vertica, Rocket helps customers update their analytics environments. They want to enable next-generation analytics and GenAI on trusted data across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid setups. The acquisition strengthens Rocket’s strategy of enabling modernization without disruption, particularly for organizations with complex, performance-intensive IT environments.

“The surge in AI investment has heightened both the importance and the difficulty of turning data into real business value,” said Milan Shetti, President and CEO of Rocket Software. “With Vertica, we’re addressing the next wave of modernization challenges: transforming data warehouses, repatriating analytics workloads, and enabling AI-driven decision-making so customers can handle their most data-intensive workloads and accelerate modernization.” Rocket plans to fund the acquisition with cash, with closing expected mid-2026, pending regulatory approvals.
