april Expands Tax Platform With IRS Data to Deliver More Precise Tax Planning Insights

Share

Embedded tax technology platform april has announced expanded capabilities within its Integrated Tax Platform, introducing personalized tax planning insights driven by client-authorized IRS tax data. The new capability pairs official IRS transcript information with april’s proprietary, IRS-approved tax engine, offering wealth management organizations a comprehensive view of client financial profiles to inform tax-optimized wealth strategies.

By making historical tax data continuously accessible, the platform allows financial advisory firms to transition tax from an annual compliance function into a proactive, year-round driver of client wealth management.

Unlocking Client Visibility and Streamlining Advisor Workflows

Securing complete historical tax records from clients has traditionally presented an operational bottleneck for financial advisors. The updated platform resolves this friction by enabling firms to securely retrieve IRS transcript data with explicit client consent.

The tax engine- which processed over 1.4 million federal and state returns in 2026-evaluates historical data directly within existing advisor software and practice management tools, eliminating the requirement to deploy additional software solutions.

Core capabilities of the updated platform include:

  • Direct IRS Data Retrieval: Securely accesses official IRS transcript information with client permission, replacing manual paper collection.

  • Real-Time Tax Modeling: Evaluates the tax implications of major financial scenarios, including equity compensation vesting, concentrated stock positions, Roth conversions, and estimated quarterly tax payments.

  • Native Tech Stack Integration: Delivers tax insights directly into existing advisory software and onboarding workflows without operational friction.

  • Unified Workspace Collaboration: Establishes a shared source of truth connecting clients, financial advisors, and tax professionals throughout the year.

Advisors are increasingly expected to deliver highly personalized guidance. Doing so effectively requires access to accurate, comprehensive financial information,” said Ben Borodach, co-founder and CEO of april. “Tax data is one of the most valuable sources of holistic client insight, yet it has historically been difficult to access and apply at scale. For many American families, gathering and sharing tax information with a financial advisor can be a frustrating, time-consuming process that makes it harder to take full control of their financial lives. By combining client-authorized IRS data with our tax engine, we’re helping firms turn tax data into actionable planning opportunities while making it easier for clients to securely access, share and use their tax information to make informed financial decisions.”

“Wealth management firms are increasingly looking to deliver family-office-level service at scale, and tax plays a foundational role in making that possible,” said Raj Doshi, president and COO of april. “For too long, taxes have been treated as an annual, retrospective compliance event instead of a year-round planning opportunity. By making tax data more accessible and actionable, we’re helping wealth management firms create more connected client experiences and deliver advice that is proactive, precise, and personalized.”

Transforming Tax Compliance into Strategic Practice Growth

As registered investment advisors (RIAs) and wealth management platforms seek to differentiate their service offerings, embedding tax strategy directly into wealth management workflows has emerged as a key growth driver.

In 2025, april’s AI-powered tax engine became the first in 15 years to achieve full IRS e-file authorization. By combining large-scale filing infrastructure with predictive, year-round planning tools, april enables advisory firms to offer family-office-level intelligence at scale while improving client retention and overall firm growth.
