FIS Introduces Enterprise Embedded Banking Framework to Power Bank-Led Software Integrations

Share

Financial technology leader FIS introduces its FIS Embedded Banking Platform, a tailor-made infrastructure solution aimed to facilitate financial institutions in embedding banking products directly into business software operated by others. This platform allows banks in the United States to deliver the banking services like deposit accounts, payment systems, corporate cards, accounts receivable and accounts payable within the software systems in which their business customers run their businesses daily.

Supporting Customer needs and Compliance Through Embedded Financial Flows Banks can deliver banking capabilities within enterprise resource planning (ERPs) and vertical management software through the release of integrated financial workflows that are customer preferences driving the choice of commercial services.

Maintaining Primary Customer Relationships and Compliance Oversight

Main point Customer Relations and Control Through Supervision and Regulation Rather than relying on external ledgers, SaaS/BaaS middleware solutions that operate outside of the bank’s balance sheet would usually require the customers to be managed through the bank’s own internal database systems, while FIS Embedded Banking Platform is designed first and foremost to carry bank and customer data in-house. By maintaining the bank’s balance sheet control over accounts, it allows compliant institutions not only to have oversight control, but also protect primary relationships with customers, grow their online presence without sacrificing the regulatory requirements, etc.

The joint operational framework establishes clear operational roles:

Financial Institutions: Retain direct deposit relationships, regulatory compliance authority, and core account ownership.

Software Partners: Manage the end-user software interface and client-facing digital experience.

FIS: Supplies the underlying core technology, API architecture, data connectivity, and security controls.

To accommodate diverse developer needs, the platform offers flexible integration options including REST APIs, software development kits (SDKs), pre-built UI widgets, and customizable white-label applications for web and mobile.

“Banks’ customers want banking built into the software they use to run their business every day,” said Jon Briggs, Global Head of Embedded Solutions and Money Movement at FIS. “Embedded Banking Platform lets banks meet those expectations and stay at the center of the relationship, while maintaining the regulatory control and customer ownership that define traditional banking.”

Initial Strategic Rollout and Market Expansion

FIS is currently deploying the platform with an initial cohort of commercial banking partners, including Cogent Bank, Commercial Bank of California, and M&T Bank. General commercial availability for core embedded accounts and payment capabilities is scheduled for Q4 2026.

By uniting software workflows with regulated banking infrastructure, FIS enables traditional financial institutions to capture enterprise liquidity, streamline commercial payments, and secure their long-term position at the center of commercial commerce.
