Monk Launches Voice Collections to Automate Accounts Receivable Calls

Share

Monk, an AI-native accounts receivable platform, announced the rollout of Voice Collections. The new capability equips Julia Monk’s proprietary autonomous collection agent with the ability to place outbound collection calls and address inbound customer questions regarding invoices and payment statuses via dedicated organizational phone numbers.

The expansion integrates phone outreach directly into Monk’s Intelligent Collections suite. While phone conversations remain one of the most effective methods for resolving overdue accounts and securing verbal payment commitments, manual calling has historically proven difficult for finance departments to scale efficiently.

“Voice in finance has to be careful by design,” said Joe Zhou, Co-Founder and CTO of Monk. “Julia will not browse across accounts or move money over the phone. A caller has to bring the company name and invoice number before it confirms anything, and every call lands in the record. In finance a 1% mistake is still unacceptable, so we built for that first and added the reach second.”

Strict Financial Guardrails and Read-Only Security Architecture

Engineered specifically for financial compliance and data safety, Voice Collections operates within strict operational boundaries:

Read-Only Agent Permissions: Julia functions exclusively in a read-only capacity during phone calls. The agent can answer questions, verify details, and route next steps, but cannot modify invoice terms, adjust payment statuses, or process sensitive payment account changes over the line.

Reference-Based Authentication: To prevent unauthorized data exposure, Julia requires callers to provide both a verified company name and a specific invoice number before retrieving records.

Unified Audit Logging: Inbound and outbound call transcripts are automatically merged into the master collection ledger alongside email interactions, creating a single, continuous audit trail. Any interaction requiring human discretion is escalated directly to the finance team.

Driving Efficiency Across Modern Finance Teams

Voice Collections expands on Monk’s existing email automation capabilities, which currently manage accounts receivable workflows for mid-market and enterprise businesses such as Unify, Pump, Siro, and Elate.

“We chose Monk to help automate our collections, a process previously demanding several hours a week of manual, one-off outreach,” said Will Stewart, Head of Finance and BizOps at Unify. “Today, our Monk agent is always running in the background and I have a single dashboard to manage AR from.”

At Pump, which manages account volumes across more than 1,500 active clients, Monk’s automated workflows have assisted in collecting over $10 million in recent months.

Transforming Voice AI into Core Infrastructure

The launch of Voice Collections comes as voice AI transitions from isolated proofs-of-concept into core business infrastructure. With voice processing platforms handling billions of calls industry-wide, Monk pairs these underlying conversational engines with deep AR domain context, operational safety controls, and real-time auditability.

Voice Collections is available immediately as an opt-in feature for all Monk customers. Enterprise finance leaders and accounts receivable managers can evaluate platform benchmarks or request an operational demonstration by visiting Monk’s official platform.
