Omdia has launched its inaugural Telco B2B AI Monetization Index, offering an independent benchmark of how telecom operators are tapping into the expanding global AI economy. Despite growing ambitions, the report estimates that telcos will generate just $4 billion in B2B AI revenues in 2025—a modest start in a sector poised for rapid growth.
The Index projects a 65% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in telco-driven AI revenues through 2030, as operators evolve beyond traditional connectivity services to become key enablers of AI infrastructure and solutions. This includes ventures into AI data centers, hosted platforms, and professional services, with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) identified as a core customer segment.
“Telcos have a natural role to play as local and national AI services providers and strategic partners,” said Brian Washburn, Chief Analyst, Telco B2B Solutions. “It is early days, but the index highlights that monetization opportunities for telcos in the AI economy already extend well beyond connectivity, particularly as demand for data security and sovereign services continues to grow.”

The Index evaluates telcos across four key dimensions: Infrastructure, AI service portfolio, partnership ecosystems, and regulatory maturity. Omdia notes that by the end of 2025, AI will account for one-third of global network traffic, totaling 10 zettabytes.
Published quarterly, the Index is part of Omdia’s Telco B2B Solutions Intelligence Service, which supports operators in navigating AI-driven transformation. Additional resources include AI traffic forecasting, revenue modeling, and B2B adoption insights, all available via subscription.
