Financial data and technology provider S&P Global Market Intelligence has announced the commercial launch of ETF Intelligence, an advanced analytics service engineered to deliver comprehensive data and diagnostic clarity across more than 15,000 exchange-traded funds (ETFs) worldwide. The specialized platform integrates proprietary institutional datasets with multi-dimensional fund analytics to give institutional market participants a complete view of sector flows, investment themes, capital growth patterns, and broader market dynamics.
The release responds to rapid structural growth and shifting product complexity across the global fund ecosystem. According to an historical market analysis from S&P Global Market Intelligence assets stored in the U.S. options-based ETFs increased from less than $5 billion in 2019 to nearly $245 billion in 2025 which shows at how fast complex derivatives and income strategies are getting accepted. Nowadays, portfolio managers, risk officers and quantitative analysts get more and more challenged as product innovation is pushed forward both by retail investors and institutional capital, they are required to be not only thorough but extremely accurate when it comes to evaluating the basic securities in the holding, assessing liquidity on-the-fly, as well as keeping the risk of the portfolio under control.
Centralizing Global Fund Analytics for Multi-Asset Workflows
The newly introduced platform acts as a unified analytical engine, merging proprietary S&P Global data assets directly into institutional research and trading workflows. By replacing fragmented third-party data feeds with daily refreshed fund metrics, the service streamlines how buy-side and sell-side firms evaluate global ETF exposures.

The ETF Intelligence architecture supports institutional operations across several key areas:
Proprietary Data Integration: Combines specialized ETF analytics with proprietary datasets from S&P Global to generate multi-dimensional insights and support custom quantitative signal development across asset classes.
Thematic and Sector Tracking: Delivers continuous visibility into sector rotations, emerging investment themes, capital flow velocity, and macro growth patterns.
Historical and Daily Analytics: Features an empirical database spanning over a decade of historical records alongside more than 150 daily metrics covering performance, liquidity, volatility, benchmark comparisons, and portfolio composition.
Global Market Coverage: Encompasses more than 15,000 fund vehicles across major international exchanges to inform asset allocation, risk management, quantitative modeling, and new product development.
Bridging Data Silos Across the Institutional Ecosystem
The service is part of a multi-asset data and services alignment plan of S&P Global Market Intelligence, focused on specific asset class workflows. The solution is a combination of granular basket metrics with overall market view through which investment teams can understand the fund structure without manually redoing the data.
To meet the requirements of an organization, the system is intended to be of general use by, for instance, index providers, ETF issuers, hedge fund managers, institutional asset managers, investment banks, quantitative traders and equity research professionals. The common dataset not only allows the product team to compare their strategies but also acts as a means of helping quantitative traders test various customized factors through history while providing risk managers with instruments for the breakdown of portfolios in real time.
“As the ecosystem scales in both size and complexity, the ability to understand underlying exposures, liquidity and risk with greater precision is paramount,” said Paul Wilson, Head of Data, Pricing, Valuations & Analytics at S&P Global Market Intelligence. “Our aim in developing ETF Intelligence is to help clients better understand the forces shaping ETFs and to support more informed decision-making in a rapidly evolving market.”
The ETF Intelligence platform is fully operational and available for enterprise integration across research, risk, and asset management platforms. S&P Global Market Intelligence noted in its product documentation that ETF Intelligence is strictly an independent product of S&P Global Market Intelligence and is not a product of, or a collaboration with, S&P Dow Jones Indices.
Market participants, quantitative research teams, and institutional fund managers can review technical product specifications, examine sample dataset structures, and request platform demonstrations by contacting designated account teams or accessing S&P Global Market Intelligence’s central digital portal.
