Agibank Launches Proprietary Investment Platform to Expand Digital Banking and Deposit Growth

Share

Brazilian financial institution Agibank, a subsidiary of Agi Inc. has officially launched its proprietary investment platform, integrating wealth management capabilities directly into its mobile banking application. The platform rollout marks a major strategic expansion in the bank’s effort to diversify its financial solution suite, deepen long-term customer engagement, and scale its deposit-gathering infrastructure.

The introduction of native investment tools comes amid steady growth across Agibank’s expanding user base, particularly among account holders who utilize the bank to receive recurring monthly income. By bringing investment products into its central application ecosystem, the bank aims to capture a larger share of its customers’ financial activity while broadening its funding channels.

Key Product Features and Initial Fixed-Income Offering

At launch, the proprietary investment platform debuts with a flagship fixed-income product: the Bank Certificate of Deposit (CDB). Designed to combine security, flexibility, and accessibility, the solution caters to both first-time investors and everyday account holders looking to grow their cash balances.

The initial CDB offering features several key structural components:

  • Competitive Yield: Offers a return rate aligned at 100% of the benchmark CDI (Certificado de Depósito Interbancário) rate.

  • High Liquidity: Features daily liquidity redemption options, giving account holders immediate access to capital when required.

  • Low Barrier to Entry: Establishes a low minimum investment threshold to encourage broad adoption across diverse income segments.

  • Standardized Tax Structure: Follows standard Brazilian fixed-income taxation, including a regressive Financial Operations Tax (IOF) on redemptions made under 30 days and a regressive Income Tax scale applied solely to net yields.

Strategic Roadmap: In-House Assets and Open-Architecture Distribution

While the platform launches with fixed-income CDBs, Agibank’s long-term architecture is designed for multi-asset expansion. Subsequent feature releases will integrate products managed by Agibank Asset-the institution’s specialized asset management division-alongside third-party financial instruments, establishing a broad open-architecture marketplace inside the mobile app.

“This launch represents another step in building an increasingly complete financial offering for our customers. We are starting with the CDB (Certificate of Deposit), which is a traditional product in the market and one that makes even more sense at this point in our journey, as we have a growing base of account holders who receive their income at Agi. In addition to expanding the options within the app, this solution strengthens our relationship with customers and contributes to the diversification of the bank’s funding sources,” said Marcello Dubeux, Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer at Agibank.

Building a Broader Wealth Management Strategy

The launch creates a foundation for Agibank to gradually expand its investment portfolio beyond fixed-income products. By incorporating proprietary asset management products alongside external investment options, the bank can offer customers a wider range of savings and investment solutions as their financial needs evolve.

For digital banks, adding investment capabilities also increases customer retention by encouraging users to keep larger portions of their financial assets within the institution rather than transferring funds to external investment platforms.

At the same time, greater customer deposits provide banks with more diversified funding sources, supporting lending activities and long-term financial stability.

Strengthening Digital Banking Through Integrated Services

Agibank’s investment platform highlights the continued evolution of digital banking from transaction-focused services to comprehensive financial ecosystems. Rather than serving solely as a payments or lending platform, digital banks are increasingly integrating wealth management, investment, and advisory capabilities to become customers’ primary financial destination.

By launching its proprietary investment platform, Agibank is positioning itself to capture a larger share of customers’ financial activities while creating new revenue opportunities through investment products and asset management services. As the platform expands with additional proprietary and third-party offerings, the bank is expected to strengthen customer engagement, diversify funding sources, and reinforce its competitive position within Brazil’s rapidly growing digital banking market.
