Cognida Acquires Automate to Expand AI-Powered Accounting and Operational Workflows

Share

Enterprise AI solutions provider Cognida has completed the acquisition of Automate, an enterprise artificial intelligence platform specializing in high-accountability accounting and operational workflows, from Within (formerly Klarity). Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The strategic acquisition incorporates an established software framework, specialized accounting domain expertise, and deep client relationships directly into Cognida’s portfolio. The move accelerates Cognida’s evolution as an AI-native solutions provider by pairing software and intellectual property with enterprise data engineering and business transformation services.

Controlling Financial and Operations Tasks That Carry Heavy Risks

Automate works with artificial intelligence on complex financial back-office procedures that are subject to audit across quote-to-cash and order-to-cash business cycles. Among the services it offers is the recognition of revenue under standards like ASC 606, handling of deal-desk operations, contract evaluation, purchase-order matching, invoice processing, and ongoing compliance control.

The software, through its integration of corporate governance, accounting policies, and approval rules, changes business documents into decisions that have to be documented for audit purposes. At the same time, it gives seamless communication capabilities for both ways between the system and core ERP and CRM systems.
Core platform capabilities include:

Policy-Driven Automation: Translates complex accounting rules and contract terms into auditable workflow actions.

Deterministic Exception Routing: Automatically flags and escalates compliance anomalies and approval deviations to human oversight.

Seamless ERP & CRM Integration: Unifies transactional data across major enterprise finance and revenue platforms.

Proven Production Track Record: Processed millions of critical financial documents for large public enterprises, private equity-backed firms, and high-growth technology companies.

“Most enterprises today have AI pilots, not AI operations. The gap between the two is not model capability. It is context, controls, and accountability,” said Feroze Mohammed, founder and CEO of Cognida. “What enterprises need is an operating model that connects data, policies, domain knowledge, workflows, AI systems, and people into something dependable enough to run critical parts of the business. Automate gives us a proven foundation inside accounting and operational workflows where outcomes must be accurate, controlled, and auditable.”

Team Integration and Leadership Continuity

Automate will join Cognida as a separate product line while retaining its existing leadership, engineering workforce, and support personnel. Nick Tiscornia, the General Manager, and Rama Pagadala, Senior Vice President of Engineering, will remain in charge of Automate’s product direction and client operations.

The acquisition continues the three-year cooperation between Cognida and Automate, which will provide a smooth handover for current platform users and also expand engineering resources and quicken the pace of roadmap changes.

“Our customers depend on Automate for work that has to be right the first time. That doesn’t change, and neither does the team behind it,” said Nick Tiscornia, general manager of Automate at Cognida. “What does change is the scale of what we can build. As a core part of Cognida’s strategy, Automate now has access to greater engineering depth and broader data and AI capabilities.”

“Klarity Automate has built a strong position by applying AI to complex, high-value enterprise workflows,” said Andrew Antos, co-founder and CEO of Within. “As Within continues to build the Company Brain that captures how work gets done and continuously reallocates work between people and agents, we wanted Automate to move to an organization with the commitment, capabilities, and customer orientation required to support its next phase of growth. Cognida already had meaningful familiarity with the platform and the team over a three-year partnership. That gave us confidence that Automate would move to an organization that respects what has been built, understands its customers, and has the capabilities to help it grow.”

“I’ve worked with Automate since its early days and have also seen Cognida’s capabilities firsthand through our finance transformation and revenue analytics work together,” said Jason Durham, chief accounting officer at Tyler Technologies. “Automate has earned trust in complex accounting workflows where accuracy, controls, and auditability are essential. Cognida combines deep accounting-domain knowledge with strong data, AI, and execution capabilities. Together, they have a powerful foundation to accelerate innovation and expand Automate’s impact across enterprise accounting and operations.”

Architecting Governed AI Systems for the Enterprise

Cognida’s hybrid services-and-software delivery model addresses a primary challenge in enterprise AI adoption: going beyond general-purpose models to build governed, context-aware operating architectures. By combining hands-on domain consulting with repeatable software capabilities, Cognida enables organizations to move away from isolated AI experiments toward governed, continuously improving operational workflows.
