Extend, a reputed provider of embedded virtual card payment solutions, has revealed the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with WEX to make virtual card payment transactions easy and fast through Concur Invoice. The integration is designed to permit WEX corporate cardholders to connect their corporate accounts with Concur Invoice for automatic vendor payments even through virtual cards without exiting the software platform.
By using its SAP Concur partnership, Extend supplies the main components that support this integration. The partnership with WEX is Extend’s latest move as a financial technology provider to financial institutions and payment providers who want to support their customers’ payment efforts in their day-to-day work environment.
Accounts Payable Payment Efficiency Raise through Embedded
Payments This solution makes the accounts payable process of WEX clients more comfortable and safer. When an invoice arrives, Concur Invoice will launch the process of issuing a one-time virtual card that will be linked to the user’s WEX account.
All cards generated will have distinct features like 16-digit numbers, set spending limits, expiration dates as well as invoice references for closure and reconciliation. This way, a safe method of payment from initiation, through to authorization and reconciliation is guaranteed.

Through this capability, businesses benefit from improved financial control and operational efficiency, including faster supplier payments, enhanced visibility into transactions, automated reconciliation processes, and reduced reliance on paper-based payment methods.
“WEX is committed to providing our customers with intelligence-led solutions that transform Accounts Payable from a back-office function into a strategic driver of working capital,” said Carlos Carriedo, Chief Operating Officer, Americas Payments & Mobility, WEX. “By partnering with Extend to embed virtual card payments inside Concur Invoice, we are delivering infrastructure that offers granular control over every transaction, all without disrupting how they already operate.”
Driving Modern AP Transformation with Virtual Card Technology
WEX continues to modernize the AP lifecycle through an advanced orchestration layer that replaces traditional payment credentials with secure, single-use virtual tokens. This approach minimizes fraud risks while simplifying cross-border payment complexities across currencies, systems, and geographies.
By integrating transaction processing with supplier enablement and onboarding strategies, WEX enables organizations to evolve accounts payable into a more strategic, value-generating function that contributes directly to working capital optimization.
Andrew Jamison, CEO and co-founder of Extend, shares “WEX is one of the most respected names in corporate payments, and this partnership reflects the momentum we’re seeing across the industry. Extend has built the infrastructure that lets card issuers and payment platforms deploy new capabilities inside the software their customers already use, without ripping and replacing what’s already working. As customer expectations rapidly evolve, so does the race to deliver more connected payment workflows—Extend is excited to be the partner that makes it possible.”
Strengthening the Future of Embedded Payments
Extend’s platform is a great example of a modern digital system that meets traditional financial systems halfway, combining payment networks, expense management, and enterprise software. It has established connections not only with the major card networks and issuing banks but also by making its products available through platforms like Concur Invoice, thereby continually cementing its position as a vital component in the world of embedded finance innovations.
As the worlds of enterprise software and payment infrastructure gradually intertwine, a collaboration such as this one not only points to the ways in which organizations may speed up their digital transformation efforts but also reflects how jointly, they can present a greater value proposition. Together WEX and Extend are demonstrating a larger trend in the industry where payments are not only unified but are also automated and intelligent to a degree that provides businesses with tremendous efficiency and scalability.
