In a major move for the alternative asset sector, MSCI Inc. and UBS Group AG have announced a strategic partnership aimed at advancing transparency across private markets. The collaboration will combine MSCI’s robust independent data, analytics, and modeling capabilities with UBS’s extensive alternatives expertise and global client insights to expand MSCI’s AI-powered platform. This joint ecosystem integrates fund discovery, portfolio management, analytics, and benchmarking to streamline data management and tackle longstanding challenges like fragmented data and limited transparency. Leveraging UBS’s unique perspectives across limited partner, wealth management, and asset management lenses, the initiative aims to build a connected, standardized experience across the full investment lifecycle, with UBS acting as an early adopter and advocate for market-wide standardization.

Highlighting the long-term vision of this initiative, Henry Fernandez, Chairman and CEO of MSCI, commented: “MSCI has long been committed to bringing independence, transparency and innovation to global investors. By combining MSCI and UBS’s respective strengths, we aim to help build the infrastructure that can shape the future of private markets investing.” Echoing this sentiment, Sergio P. Ermotti, Group Chief Executive Officer of UBS, said: “This partnership builds on our long-standing relationship with MSCI and our shared ambition to increase transparency in private markets.
