Mercury Expands Corporate Treasury Ecosystem with Custom Funds from Morgan Stanley and State Street

Share

Financial technology firm Mercury has announced the launch of two proprietary Treasury investment products developed exclusively for its business customers in strategic collaboration with Morgan Stanley Investment Management and State Street Investment Management. The custom mutual fund offerings give startups and high-growth companies access to institutional-grade cash management tools designed to maximize yield while maintaining conservative risk profiles and immediate liquidity.

The product expansion addresses a critical challenge for scaling enterprises: effectively managing substantial capital reserves amid changing interest rate environments without taking on duration risk or navigating complex external investment platforms.

Dual Institutional Solutions for Corporate Liquidity

The expanded Mercury Treasury architecture introduces two custom-designed investment vehicles tailored specifically to corporate liquidity management:

  • Morgan Stanley Ultra-Short Strategy Portfolio (MCRYX): Developed alongside Morgan Stanley Investment Management, this ultra-short bond fund is live on the Mercury Treasury platform. The fund currently delivers a net yield of up to 3.88%, offering capital appreciation with a 1-to-2 day settlement timeline for operating liquidity.

  • State Street Institutional U.S. Government Money Market Fund – Mercury Class (MRGXX): Created in partnership with State Street Investment Management, this custom share class carries a lower net expense ratio than previous platform offerings, passing greater yield directly to corporate accounts while providing same-day withdrawal capabilities.

By embedding both institutional strategies natively within its financial dashboard, Mercury enables corporate controllers and CFOs to allocate capital efficiently without maintaining separate custodial relationships or executing manual transfers across disjointed banking channels.

“Founders and finance teams shouldn’t have to move money across platforms or take unnecessary risk to earn a competitive return on their cash,” said Dan Kang, CFO of Mercury. “We built these funds with Morgan Stanley Investment Management and State Street Investment Management to give our customers exclusive access to institutional-quality Treasury products directly inside Mercury.”

“We’re seeing growing demand from startups and finance teams for cash management solutions that combine liquidity, operational simplicity, and institutional-quality investment products,” said Scott Wachs, Global Head of Liquidity Product at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. “We are pleased to expand our partnership with Mercury by making the MSIFT Ultra-Short Strategy Portfolio (MCRYX) available to Mercury customers.”

Capital Growth Drives Demand for Modern Liquidity Infrastructure

The launch arrives amid a significant influx of capital into the global technology ecosystem, with global venture funding exceeding $500 billion in the first half of 2026. Fast-scaling enterprises—including platform users such as ElevenLabs, Supabase, and Linear—increasingly require automated, policy-enforced treasury tools to protect extended operating runways.

“More than ever, today’s businesses require cash management solutions that are predictable, reliable, and transparent,” said Kim Hochfeld, Senior Managing Director, Global Head of Cash, Securities Lending and Digital Assets at State Street Investment Management. “We are thrilled to partner with Mercury, whose intuitive platform is redefining treasury management for modern companies. Combined with our cash management capabilities, this partnership will help our shared clients utilize high-quality liquidity solutions with greater transparency and operational efficiency.”

Looking ahead, Mercury plans to enhance its Treasury suite with the introduction of Treasury Ladders. This upcoming feature will allow finance teams to automate purchases across individual U.S. Treasury securities, structuring maturity schedules to match anticipated operational cash flows and liquidity requirements.

By pairing custom asset management solutions with automated account transfers and real-time cash visibility, Mercury continues to expand its single-platform solution for enterprise financial management.
