Workday, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources, has introduced a comprehensive AI developer toolkit aimed at empowering developers to build, embed, and integrate AI-driven applications and agents directly within the Workday platform. The announcement was made at Workday DevCon 2024, the company’s annual developer conference.
The newly launched toolset includes Workday AI Gateway, Workday AI Components, and support for large language models (LLMs), all designed to facilitate rapid development and deployment of secure, enterprise-ready AI solutions. The toolkit allows developers to connect to Workday’s extensive dataset—spanning over 65 million users—and create intelligent applications tailored to specific business needs.
“Today, developers are under immense pressure to rapidly deliver sophisticated AI apps while navigating a complex and fragmented AI landscape. They’re piecing together disparate tools and services, hindering their ability to innovate,” said Matthew Grippo, senior vice president, core software, Workday. “Workday’s new AI developer toolset removes these barriers by empowering developers to seamlessly integrate powerful AI capabilities into the apps and agents that will define the future of work.”

The AI Components feature includes pre-built capabilities such as Skills Matching and Document Intelligence, allowing developers to accelerate use case deployment without starting from scratch. Meanwhile, the AI Gateway acts as a bridge between Workday and external LLMs, enabling more flexible integrations.
With this move, Workday continues to solidify its commitment to responsible AI development, focusing on trust, transparency, and human-centric solutions. The company has embedded AI across its suite of products for years, and the new toolkit expands that reach, enabling both customers and partners to innovate more freely and effectively on the Workday platform.
