Maxio has launched a new surcharging capability within Maxio Payments, introducing what it describes as the first native surcharge solution designed specifically for subscription-based SaaS and AI businesses. The feature enables companies to recover credit card processing costs directly within their billing workflows instead of absorbing transaction fees that can range from 2% to 4% per payment. Built directly into the Maxio platform, the solution allows businesses to configure surcharge rules across invoices, billing portals, and self-service checkouts while offering ACH payments as a lower-cost alternative.

“Credit card fees have been a silent tax on SaaS and AI companies,” said Branden Jenkins, CEO at Maxio. “Our customers needed a smart way to address this. So we built the only native solution that lets companies take that cost back — automatically and without touching a line of code.” Maxio said the platform also includes configurable compliance controls for state-level and card-brand surcharge regulations, along with automated reporting designed to simplify financial reconciliation for finance teams.
