Azul, the trusted leader in enterprise Java for today’s AI-first world, announced the appointment of Matt Camassa as chief revenue officer (CRO). Camassa brings more than 20 years of experience building and scaling global enterprise sales companies and will lead Azul’s worldwide revenue organization  sales, solution engineering, partners, customer success and operations  as enterprises continue to turn to Azul to meet the performance, security and cost demands AI places on their Java estates.

Camassa has built and led global revenue organizations at enterprise software companies selling mission-critical technology to large, sophisticated organizations. As CRO at TeleSign, he helped scale the business through a period of rapid growth, culminating in its acquisition by BICS in 2017. At Sift, a fraud-prevention company, Camassa led worldwide sales through a multi-year period of growth with strong net revenue retention. Most recently, Camassa served as an operating partner at Diversis Capital and, before that, an executive in residence at K1 Investment Management. In those roles he led go-to-market strategy, was a board member and advisor, and held multiple interim CRO roles at portfolio companies.

As CRO, Camassa will lead the global teams that sell and deliver Azul’s AI-first Java platform  Azul Prime, Azul Core, Azul Intelligence Cloud, Azul Payara Micro and Azul Payara Server  to enterprises worldwide. His priorities include:

  • Accelerating enterprise growth: Expanding Azul’s reach with the large, sophisticated enterprises that run their most critical systems on Java, from new customers to deeper adoption across existing customers.
  • Delivering the full value of the Azul platform: Helping customers address performance, cloud cost, security, modernization, and DevOps productivity across the breadth of Azul’s product portfolio.
  • Expanding global routes to market: Growing Azul’s cloud, technology and channel partnerships and its sales presence across North America, EMEA, APAC and Latin America.

“Throughout my career, I’ve seen enterprises invest in the platforms that solve their most urgent business problems, and today that means getting more out of Java as AI amplifies the pressure put onto the systems that run their business,” said Camassa. “Azul is in a unique position, providing a complete platform that makes Java faster, more secure and less expensive to run. The opportunity ahead is to bring the full breadth of that portfolio to more enterprises around the world, and I’m excited to lead the global revenue team to help make that happen.”

“Matt has successfully built global revenue organizations that sell mission-critical technology to the world’s largest, most sophisticated enterprises, and he has done it across multiple target markets and growth cycles,” said Scott Sellers, co-founder and CEO of Azul. “He knows how large enterprises evaluate and buy software and has a proven playbook for building high-performing teams around the world. Azul has grown from a Java runtime leader into a full AI-first Java platform, and Matt brings an exceptionally strong track record of success to our executive team to continue to take advantage of this period of momentum and growth for Azul.”
